New Confidence of ‘New India’:

Addressing Concerns and Challenges:
Expressing concern over large-scale migration from Uttarakhand’s border areas, Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to extending development schemes comprehensively. Recognizing climate change as a national security issue, the Ministry of Defence plans to seek cooperation from friendly countries in addressing this challenge.
BRO’s Exemplary Contribution:
The Raksha Mantri applauded the Border Roads Organisation’s noteworthy contribution, particularly in the recent Silkyra Tunnel operation in Uttarakhand. Commending the coordinated efforts involving the National Disaster Response Force, BRO, Indian Air Force, and state agencies, he cited it as a prime example of effective teamwork in times of crisis.
Unity in Diversity: BRO Personnel as a Unique Workforce:
Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the unique workforce engaged with the BRO, including Armed Forces personnel, Permanent Civilian employees, and Casual Paid Labourers (CPLs). He emphasized the change in mindset regarding CPLs, recognizing them as integral contributors to the organization’s goals. The government’s initiatives, including Risk and Hardship Allowance parity with Armed Forces and enhanced compensation for CPLs, reflect an effort to boost morale and acknowledge their contributions.
Key Projects and Their Impact:
Out of the 35 projects inaugurated, 29 are bridges and six are roads, strategically distributed across states/union territories facing challenging weather conditions. The event featured the inauguration of the Dhak Bridge, a 93-meter long Class 70R bridge over Dhak Nallah. This bridge assumes strategic importance, providing increased connectivity to borders, enhancing operational preparedness of the Armed Forces, and fostering socio-economic development by connecting villages from Joshimath to Nitipass.
E-inauguration of Critical Projects:
The remaining 34 projects were e-inaugurated by Shri Rajnath Singh, including the Ragini-Ustad-Pharkian Gali Road in J&K. This 38.25-km long CL-9 road promises all-weather connectivity between Tangdhar and Keren sector, significantly contributing to military operational readiness in the region.
