Bullitt Group, a Kodak licensee for mobile devices in India, recently launched the photography-focussed Kodak Ektra smartphone in India at Rs. 19,990. Kodak Ektra smartphone is launched for photography enthusiasts with exclusive DSLR mode. The Kodak Ektra, which was first announced in October last year and is currently available in the US and Europe. The smartphone will be available exclusively via Flipkart.

The major highlights of Kodak Ektra smartphone are, it has a 21-megapixel fast-focus camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture as well as 13-megapixel front-facing camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and f2.2 aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation, Phase Detection Autofocus, dual-LED (dual-tone) flash and 4K video recording. The rear camera is also capable of shooting in RAW. On the front, the Ektra comes with a 13-megapixel camera. The custom-built camera app on the smartphone comes with DSLR-like ‘Scene Selection Dial’ where adjustments are made in real time via a range of settings, including HDR, landscape, portrait, macro, sport, night-time and panorama.

The camera blends high-quality low-light photography, utilising “ARCSOFT Night Shot” technology combined with a Kodak-certified lens coating that aims to maximise the light that reaches the sensor while reducing the ISO noise.

The Kodak Ektra – to further cement its photography credentials — comes with a rich selection of image editing features ranging from HDR, Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Sport, Night-time, Panorama and Bokeh, alongside a Smart Auto mode. “In Manual mode, more advanced users can adjust exposure, ISO, focus, white balance and shutter speed, with the results being visible on the screen as changes are made.” The Ektra, in addition, also features a Super 8 app, that provides professional effects reminiscent of Kodak’s iconic Super 8 film stocks. The phone also comes with a physical shutter button and a design – carved out faux leather and plastic – that would remind you of old-school cameras.

The Kodak Ektra smartphone comes with a 5-inch 1080p display, an Helio X20 2.3GHz Decacore processor clubbed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which is also expandable. The phone is further backed by a 3,000mAh battery and runs Android Marshmallow software.

“The Kodak Ektra Smartphone is all about capturing the moment, telling a story and revealing the experience of photography. Our latest features and performance adjustments include RAW support, all of which will help drive our customers’ creativity,” Peter Stephens, CEO Bullitt Group, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Kodak Brand Licensee Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd. (SPPL) has announced the launch of a Bluetooth speaker called Kodak TV Speaker. The speaker comes with Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR connectivity and a range of up to 10 meters. The company claims a battery life of “over 5 hours” on the 10W speaker. It is also available via Flipkart at Rs. 3,290.
