Smartron specifications

The dual-SIM (Micro+Micro) Smartron runs Android 7.0 Nougat – notably, an Android 7.1.1 Nougat update is already available for users for download. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 652 SoC (four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44GHz) that’s coupled with 4GB of RAM.

For optics, rear camera sports a 13-megapixel sensor with phase detection auto-focus (PDAF), a dual-LED flash, and an f/2.0 aperture, while a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens camera is in the front.  The front camera in has been bumped up to 5MP. The new Smartron phone has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

The Smartron features 64GB of inbuilt storage, which is not expandable via microSD card. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, USB Type-C port, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, and NFC. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. Smartron battery capacity is 3000mAh, and supports Quick Charge 2.0. It measures 153x77x8.9mm.

What’s Not so Cool?

The offers a good design and is a phone that is designed and engineered in India. What we thought that it misses on is a metal body. The offers a plastic body shell and that might be a deterrent for users to pick another phone.

Also the 5-megapixel front camera is not that great. It just offers a decent selfie experience. This is a user-centric phone and not a selfie-centric one, that might be just one of the reason that Smartron ignores the importance of a front camera on this one.

The is a performance oriented smartphone for people who are looking to buy a near stock android experience smartphone. It has Performance by its side and a good user experience. Camera is not one of the strongest point of this smartphone but it does the job.

Where is phone steals our heart is that it is a consistent performer for its owner, just how Sachin Tendulkar was for Cricket.

For Sachin Tendulkar fans this phone is a must have. Consumers looking for performance should have this device on their consideration list. For those looking for a selfie experience you can skip this phone.
