In 10 minutes Flipkart, MI.com sold 250,000 Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in its First Sale

In the history of online smartphone sales in India, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 is all set to be inked in gold. Launched last week, the smartphone sold a record-breaking number of units in a few minutes across Flipkart and Mi.com. The Redmi Note 4, with prices starting at Rs 9,999, went on its first flash sale yesterday and in 10 minutes over 250,000 units of the smartphone were sold. Xiaomi claims that the first flash sale of Redmi Note 4 was the biggest-ever online only smartphone launch in the country.

The company revealed that the first flash sale of Redmi Note 4 witnessed more than 3x and 5x quantity of the first sale of Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3 respectively. Xiaomi India’s e-commerce partner Flipkart further revealed that under what is recorded as the biggest-ever online sale of any smartphone in India, over 2 million unique customers visited the product page of Redmi Note 4 with almost one million ‘notify me’ requests before the device went live on Flipkart.

While achieving record-breaking sales figures in India is not new for Xiaomi, this is the first time that its product has been recorded as the fastest selling smartphone under an online-only launch till date. Last year, the Redmi Note 3 broke records for being the most shipped smartphone sold online in a given quarter, according to IDC. Repeating the success story, the Redmi Note 4 is already proving to be a worthy successor. The smartphone, which is priced at Rs 9,999 onwards, brings in subtle design changes and better specs than the Redmi Note 3.

The Redmi Note 4 features a metal unibody design, a fingerprint sensor, along with a massive battery. It comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC. The Redmi Note 4 is offered in three variants – 2GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at Rs 9,999, the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at Rs 10,999, and the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at Rs 12,999. On the photography a 13-megapixel PDAF rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Other connectivity options like hybrid dual SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. It draws its juice from a 4,100mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based on MIUI 8.
